What can I say? Why the club put a tv with the news on it directly behind the performance area I do not know.

a lot of places that have live music do that. why the hell they keep the TV on during a set is completely beyond me, tho.

Perhaps with all the bad stuff happening in the news, it's the perfect backdrop for death metal?

Maybe the TV is behind the band to make them feel like they're getting all the attention when in all honestly its Anderson Cooper everyone is focused on?
