In our garage, on the side door leading out to the yard is an old doggy door that for some reason, my stepdad won't let me nail shut. And all of the strays in our neighborhood come into our garage through there, pee on the car I'm trying to restore, and roost under my work bench. Oh, and they breed like rabbits. It got to the point where I put litter boxes in the garage because I'm tired of them peeing on my car. Then Mom, softie she is, started feeding them.
Right now, I count about 15 cats (six adults and nine kittens) living in my garage, and I want them gone. Every now and then I'll try to catch a few in my live trap and take them to the local Humane Society. If you're looking to get a few kittens, not only will I give 'em to you for free, I'll FedEx them to anywhere in the country, so long as they are out of my garage!
Jesus, The_Hankerchief, that sounds like pure cat-insanity. I'm very tempted, but the thought of receiving an animal in the mail is very disturbing to me :)
I don't know about where you live, but here there are a lot of cat-rescue people who will come and trap the cats and find them homes (and neuter/spay the little breeders). If you have a PetsMart around you, they are usually around on Saturdays, and tend to network, so if one didn't have room for the cats, another might. If they aren't around...I don't know :( Yikes, good luck.
I have nine cats, but I totally understand a cat feeling lonely! Personally, I think kittens are adorable, and sure they can be a handful, but they are so fun to watch!
We have a pet door leading in and out of the house, so we don't even need a litter box! We are the softies and feed the strays, but we also get them spayed/neutered so they don't breed, we are practically the animal shelter on the block! lol
@Jack_Flash: Well, there's actually air-freight lines (like Gold Star) that'll handle them live and take care of them. I believe FedEx might, but it's expensive.
Anyhoo, I don't mind trapping them myself; in the past two months we've donated seven already to the Humane Society. I'd just rather they go to someone who's actually going to care abnout them, as opposed to a shelter or something.
