So yeah, tornadoes, floods AND plagues of pests...

Though really, cicadas aren't very destructive, it's mostly just the singing....my god...THE SINGING!

--
I am planning on donating blood (my own) on Saturday, I encourage anyone who can to do the same. Here's the link for organizations that are helping with tornado relief in case you might have missed it: http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/05/23/joplin.how.to.help/

Also, passing this on for anyone in the Joplin area: http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/dailyrft/2011/05/planned_parenthood_joplin.php

It's been kinda scary today, I hope everyone is okay out there.

i hate cicadas...
i swear, their 'singing' resonates in my skull - through walls, no less!

I love the sound of cicadas!
But for the longest time I thought it was the power lines making that noise.

Rori, May 25th, 2011, 10:24 pm

Hubs had never heard them before last year, it was a very rude (and hilarious) surprise. He kept asking me what that noise was, and I was just like "what noise" because I'm used to it. Way to make my poor husband feel crazy...

Even so, the singing is...eerie.

I only feel that summer's arrived when I hear all the damn cicadas :)

Falconer, May 26th, 2011, 2:16 am

I liked cicadas until one year I happened to go to Washington D.C. at a time where there was an ungodly amount of them everywhere. CICADAS. EVERYWHERE. OHGOD.

Just remembering having to constantly avoid crunching all their dead carcasses on the sidewalk makes me weep. D:

So I say that does sound like good news. Good news indeed...

That chirping! Make it stop!

I would love to donate blood, but I am unfortunately unable to. However, if you find yourself in my boat, you can always donate clothes, food, and money via the Salvation army, or the Red Cross.

Here's links to those organizations if you are interested in helping. I know I am:

Anyway, you and Gibs take care out there. My local weatherman was tracking the weather patterns of the tornado and I watched as a system passed by the St. Louis area. Good luck out there!

Ugh. I love cicadas, but only their singing. Those things are creepy looking! And then when they hatch out they're white and it's just ew. Ew ew ew ew ew ew ew. Don't like looking at them, but they sound so pretty and that's how I know summer is finally here. x3

So... my dog, Adi, has taken been trying to take care of the cicada problem for us.... by eating them. EWEWEWEWEW! I swear she thinks it's a picnic every time she goes outside now. GAG.

I used to be really fascinated by their shells when I was a kid, I'd try to fill them with whatever, I don't know why...art maybe?

@The_Hankercheif Thanks for the well-wishes! And thanks for donating, as well :)

@Laura My dog used to do that too. She loved them, it was hilarious, but it was also really gross.
