I know it's a spectacle, and it's hard not to look at a giant tree on its side, but there were people who were gaping and gawking, standing practically in our yard right in front of us, and not one of them offered to help lift the tree back into place! The nerve!

Um... That might require more than just helping hands. More like some heavy rope and a big pickup truck.

Too bad I'm about 3,200 miles away. I'd totally helped.

I understand you completely. A few weeks ago some parts of my hometown and other cities where severely flooded and people that just stood there looking at the flood without helping, some where even blocking the way for the helpers, where a huge problem. It's really rude!

Those wires are worrisome. I assume since the tree fell on them they are no longer live, but eeeek. Down wires always give me the creeps.
